Xherdan Shaqiri could choose to push to leave Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, his brother has revealed.

The winger admitted recently that Liverpool lodged a bid for his services in the summer, but Bayern Munich made it clear they would not consent to his departure.

The Reds could yet rekindle their interest in the Switzerland international in the new year and Shaqiri's brother admits an assessment of how many games his brother has played at the Allianz Arena will have to be made by that time.

Shaqiri was vocal in the summer about his discontent at being overlooked for key matches last term.

And Erdin Shaqiri told German magazine Kicker: "He wasn't granted a release now, but there will be an assessment and we will see how many games Xherdan will have played by then [January]."

Bayern Munich have insisted they rate Shaqiri highly and do not want to lose the former FC Basel man.

However, the 22-year-old could push to leave the Allianz Arena in the new year if he is unhappy with his situation at the German champions.
