Louis van Gaal admits he is delighted to have been able to put a smile of the faces of Manchester United supporters after the Red Devils demolished QPR 4-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United fans were still waiting for the first win of Van Gaal's reign at the club, following one defeat and two draws from their first three Premier League games.

But an impressive display with goals from Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata meant they did not have to wait any longer as the Red Devils ran riot.

And for Van Gaal, pleasing the fans was a welcome result of the victory.

"That's also enormously important as they have had to wait a long time for a good result", the Dutchman told MUTV.

Van Gaal also stressed the importance of his side creating chances to score, something he feels they have struggled to do in recent matches.

"The most important thing from today is that we created goals", the manager explained.

"In the other matches we were the better team on the pitch but we didn't make goals.

"Now we have made four goals and that gives a boost to every player", Van Gaal concluded.
