Under-fire Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew retains the support of the club owner Mike Ashley.

The Magpies suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Southampton away from home last Saturday and are bottom of the Premier League on just two points.

Newcastle are continuing from where they left off at the end of last season and have won only five league games out of 23 in the calendar year.

There have been calls from a large section of the Newcastle fans to sack the manager and Pardew is under the cosh at St. James’ Park, with speculation growing that he is close to being removed from his post.

However, the former Charlton Athletic boss retains the support of the club owner Ashley and is expected to be of the charge of the team against Hull this weekend, according to the BBC.
