Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that further defensive injuries would place the side in a tough spot.

The Gunners lost Mathieu Debuchy to injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Manchester City and Wenger admits he is still unsure how long the Frenchman will be out of action for.

"We don’t know", he said via his club's site, when asked about how long Debuchy will be missing for.

Wenger, on the eve of Arsenal's Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, also revealed that Nacho Monreal is out with a back injury, while Calum Chambers has tonsillitis, making him 50-50 for the clash.

And the Frenchman admits he does not want any further defensive injuries to strike at the moment.

"In defence the Debuchy injury puts us a little bit in a situation where we do not want more [injuries]", Wenger said.

"Hopefully we will have good news after he has a scan and that he will be back soon.

"We have Chambers who can play in different positions, Monreal can play centre-back and we also have [Hector] Bellerin who I think is now ready to play."

Wenger also confirmed that striker Yaya Sanogo did not travel to Germany as he is suffering from a hamstring niggle.
