Abiola Dauda believes he can surpass former Vitesse striker Wilfried Bony’s achievements at the club.

The striker joined the Dutch outfit from Red Star Belgrade this summer and scored a hat-trick against SBV Excelsior yesterday.

The Nigerian has already been compared with Bony, who scored 58 goals for the club before joining Premier League side Swansea City last summer.

However, the 26-year-old has refused to be drawn into making comparisons between himself and the Ivory Coast striker.

"Since I'm here, I hear everyone talking about Bony", Dauda was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.

"But Bony is Bony and I am who I am and I hope to do even better than him."

The Nigerian has a lot of respect for Bony as a footballer, but said that he is not at Vitesse to fill the Swansea striker’s big boots but to prove his own worth at the club.

"I've seen some videos on YouTube of his goals at Vitesse.

“I have great respect for what he did here and now what he is doing in the Premier League.

“Bony is a great player but I'm not at Vitesse to follow Bony I am here to show you [how good I am]."

Dauda scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for Red Star Belgrade, but is yet to earn a cap for Nigeria’s national team.
