Former QPR midfielder Jermaine Jenas is far from convinced that Manchester United have turned over a new leaf, despite the Red Devils thrashing the R's 4-0 at Old Trafford yesterday.

Goals from Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata put QPR to the sword, with Harry Redknapp's men being 3-0 down by half-time.

The win, Manchester United's first of the season, has been hailed as the start of a new era for the under-fire club.

But Jenas believes QPR were extremely poor on the day and feels Louis van Gaal's men still have work to do if they are to build on the result and force their way back into the Premier League's top four.

"Look, it was a good performance from them, don't get me wrong", Jenas, who left QPR earlier this summer, told the BBC.

"But I think we'd like to see them against tougher opposition or some opposition that are going to come and have a go because they scored four good goals, some good performances out there, but defensively I just still wasn't convinced.

"There's no doubt that team still needs work", the midfielder, who has won 21 caps for England, added.

Manchester United now have a free week due to no European football this season, with their next game coming next weekend away at Premier League new boys Leicester City.

QPR meanwhile will try to recover from their drubbing when they host Stoke City at Loftus Road on Saturday.
