Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri believes he has a squad at his disposal that can do well in the Champions League, while he also stressed the Italian giants were unlucky not to progress past the group stage last term.

Under Antonio Conte, Juventus could not find a way out of their group and lost out to Galatasaray for a knockout round spot in the very last group fixture.

Now Allegri is in charge in Turin and confident the Juventus squad has enough quality to reach the latter stages of the competition.

"I think Juve have a side competitive enough to go far in both the league and in Europe. We know it's very hard to win in Europe, but nothing is impossible", he told a press conference ahead of the club's opener against Malmo.

"Juve were knocked out in the group, but they played well last year. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve.

"Juve are a great side and they need to aim to the last eight, but the objective for now is to get through the group", he concluded.

Juventus have been placed in Group A in the Champions League, along with Malmo, Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid.

The Italian champions warmed up for the Malmo clash by beating Udinese 2-0 in Serie A on Saturday.
