Juventus are ready to switch their attention away from Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata and towards Barcelona's Pedro Rodriguez, something which may put them on a collision course with Liverpool.
The Italian champions are already looking at who they might need to add to their squad when the transfer window opens again in January and Mata has been placed at the top of the list, especially as he will not be cup-tied for the Champions League, with Manchester United out of Europe this term.
But the Italian champions have become aware that signing Mata might prove mission impossible, as Manchester United are reluctant to part with the Spaniard.
And that has forced Juventus to consider alternative options.
According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Barcelona star Pedro is now their preferred winter signing, but the Italian champions face opposition from Liverpool.
