Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has insisted that his team will go into the Champions League this year to prove how good they are.

The defending Serie A champions were knocked out from the group stage of the Champions League last year after finishing third behind Real Madrid and Galatasaray in Group B.

And as the Bianconeri prepare to take on Swedish outfit Malmo in a Champions League Group A clash tomorrow, the Italian international believes that there is no chance of making the same mistakes from last year as they look to prove that they are capable of doing great things on the European stage as well.

"The whole city is ready for this and it is not so much the desire to make up for last year, but to show how good we are", Chiellini said at a press conference.

"We know that we can only win if we give it all our desire, attention and respect for our opponents.

"We're looking to do the best we can.

A defensive approach, according to the 30-year-old, will be important, as Chiellini thinks that they will be able to create many opportunities to score if they do not concede goals.

"We need to carry on with this defensive approach because if you do not concede goals, then there are many ways to score."
