Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool fully deserve their place in the Champions League this season, but do not want to just make up the numbers in Europe's premier club competition.

Liverpool were last in the Champions League in the 2009/10 campaign under Rafael Benitez. Three managers and five years later, they are back amongst Europe's elite and welcome Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad to Anfield tomorrow.



And having finished second in the Premier League last term, Rodgers feels his side should have full belief that they deserve their Champions League spot.

"We deserve the right to be in it", the Northern Irishman told a press conference.

 


"We've been working very hard for the last couple of years, and particularly last year.

"I think success would be qualifying from the group.

"Our overriding objective is the come out of the group and qualify", he added.

Along with Ludogorets Razgrad, Swiss champions Basel and European champions Real Madrid are also in Liverpool's Champions League group.
