Harry Redknapp has claimed that Queens Park Rangers’ loss at Old Trafford yesterday is not going to define their season.

The newly-promoted team suffered a 4-0 decimation at the hands of a new look Manchester United side powered by the attacking talents of Angel di Maria.

"Obviously it was a really disappointing result for us”, Redknapp said via his club’s feed.

The former Tottenham manager feels that the first goal came from a needlessly conceded free kick and it completely altered the dynamics of the game.

QPR went into the interval 3-0 down and Juan Mata scored one more in the second half to complete the rout for the Red Devils.

“The first goal was really disappointing. It was a rash free-kick to give away, a foul for no real reason, really needless – and they punished us.

"Then we conceded two goals in a short space of time and all of a sudden we’re out of the game."

However, Redknapp feels that results like these against the big teams are not going to make too much of a difference to QPR’s season.

"These aren’t the games that will shape our season."

QPR will be desperate for all three points when they welcome Stoke City next weekend at Loftus Road.
