Ludogorets Razgrad coach Georgi Dermendzhiev has dubbed playing at Anfield "an honour" for his side, ahead of their Champions League clash against Liverpool.

The Bulgarian champions have been drawn in Group B of the Champions League, alongside Swiss giants Basel, European champions Real Madrid, and Liverpool, back in the competition after five years away.

Ludogorets are predicted to be the group's whipping boys and Dermendzhiev has struck a less than optimistic note about their chances of taking anything from Anfield, instead focusing on the prestige of playing at such a historic stadium.

"Anfield is a stadium with a lot of history and Liverpool have won this competition five times. It's an honour to play here at Anfield against Liverpool", he was quoted as saying by UEFA.

"After the draw for the group stage I said we would pick up points but I cannot predict in which game and against which opponent. But we will collect some points at some stage.

"There is a saying in football that a team plays as much as the opposition allows them but, of course, if we need to play defensively we will, but we will also use every chance to attack

"We have our own attacking style and we plan to use it whenever we can."

The Ludogorets boss also played down the significance of Liverpool having lost 1-0 at Anfield to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, being quick to note that the Reds left Raheem Sterling out of the starting line-up.

"Liverpool's defeat by Aston Villa isn't so important. What matters is that Brendan Rodgers rested a couple of players for this Champions League game", Dermendzhiev added.
