Walter Mazzarri believes Inter’s midfield duo of Mateo Kovavic and Gary Medel are providing the platform for their attackers to flourish.
The Nerazzurri displayed a sumptuous attacking performance last night when they carried out a 7-0 demolition job against Sassuolo at the San Siro.
Despite the attacking performance, Mazzarri believes it is their solid midfield base that is allowing the Inter forwards to express themselves.
The Italian reserved special praise for Kovavic and said that the Croatian is developing into a wonderful box-to-box midfielder.
“He’s been doing well defensively for some time. Plus, with two strikers laying the ball off for him, he’s been able to get forward and join the attacks”, Mazzarri told the club’s official site.

Mazzarri believes that the solid central midfield duo of Kovavic and Medel is allowing the team to play with freedom up front.
“We’ve got two top-quality central midfielders as well as Medel, who was immense. With such a strong holding midfielder we can unleash our creative talents, like we’ve done today.”
Inter will next take on Palermo next weekend at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
