Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that the presence of experienced Premier League players in the squad has made the difference to Aston Villa’s start to the season.

Agbonlahor scored the only goal of the game in the Villans’ 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

With three wins and a draw, Villa are so far unbeaten in the league and are currently second behind Chelsea in the league table.

However, the striker has warned the squad to temper their enthusiasm as still there is a long way to go this season.

The 27-year-old stressed the importance of keeping their focus for the upcoming games as the club are bound to face some ups and downs over the course of the campaign.

"It's only four games gone. We've got 34 to go”, Agbonlahor told the club’s official site.

"We don't want to get too carried away and shoot ourselves in the foot. We're not going to get ahead of ourselves because we are in the top three or four places at the moment.

"It's a 38-game season and we know we're going to have some ups and downs this season.

"We've got another really tough game against Arsenal next week.”

Agbonlahor believes that Paul Lambert’s decision to bring in experienced Premier League performers in the summer is proving crucial to Villa’s good start to the season.

"But this summer the manager has brought in players who know the Premier League. They know how to play at places like this. They can take the tactics on board and do a job for you.

"I think that's what the gaffer was looking for – and it's come off so far."
