Luis Enrique has insisted that Barcelona will not set minimum targets for the Champions League.

The Catalans giants will take on APOEL Nicosia tomorrow at the Camp Nou in a Champions League Group F clash. The other two teams in the group are Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax.

The Blaugrana are top of La Liga having won all their first three league fixtures and Enrique is looking for a similar start to their Champions League campaign.

The Barcelona manager believes that his squad are good enough to go all the way and win the competition in May next year.

“Our target for now is just to win the first game”, the Spaniard told the club’s official site.

“We’ve started well in the league, now we need to do the same in the Champions League. With a squad like ours, it would make no sense to set minimum targets in this competition.”

Playing in the Champions League is a different experience for the players insists Enrique, though he believes that a manager’s job remains the same.

The Spaniard insists that he is not approaching tomorrow’s Champions League encounter in any special way and he is preparing the squad in the same way as he does for any other fixture during the course of the season.

“The players might feel special nerves before a Champions League match like this, because of what this competition means, with the stars and music at the start and all of that.

“But for a manager it’s the same job as ever, and I’m preparing for this game as I would for any other. And what I do know is that we’re going to have to do a lot of things better than our opponent if we want to win.”

Barcelona were knocked out of the competition in the quarter-final stage last season by La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
