Former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has been linked with the vacant manager's post at English Championship side Leeds United.

The Whites are looking for a new boss following their decision to part ways with David Hockaday after just four Championship games, with three defeats suffered.



Neil Redfearn as been filling in as caretaker and will lead the side tonight against Bournemouth. However, Redfearn is reluctant to take the post on a permanent basis.

According to French outlet Maxifoot, Sabella is now a contender to become the new permanent Leeds manager.

 


The Argentine recently led his country to the World Cup final, where they lost to Germany, and then departed his post to make way for Gerardo Martino.

Sabella would not be new to English football and has a connection with Leeds.

Indeed, as a player the 59-year-old turned out for Sheffield United between 1978 and 1980 before representing Leeds between 1980 and 1981.

He then returned to his homeland with Estudiantes.
