Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has revealed that he is not afraid of Louis van Gaal’s honesty, but actually likes it.

Blind played a crucial role in Van Gaal’s Netherlands finishing third in the World Cup this summer and mainly played as a wing-back in the Dutch side.

The Dutchman joined Manchester United on transfer deadline day from Ajax for a transfer fee of £13.8m and reunited with his former national team manager.

He made an instant impact in his debut against QPR where he played at the base of the midfield in a 4-4-2 diamond and completed 107 of his 112 attempted passes.

Blind feels that Van Gaal’s brutal honesty can be frightening for some players but he actually likes it.

"He is not frightening – he is just honest", Blind was quoted as saying by ITV.

"That can be frightening, but I like it.

"He is very honest to everybody. He knows what he wants and he knows his philosophy.

"He can bring that to the players and he can make a team with everybody in.”

The 24-year-old admits that he learned a lot playing under Van Gaal for the Dutch national team and wants to keep on absorbing the Manchester United’s manager knowledge about the game.

"I have really learned a lot from Van Gaal and I like working under him.

"He has helped me a lot and I hope to continue learning from him.”
