Borussa Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa is doubtful for his side’s Champions League opener against Arsenal tonight.

The Japanese international, who joined Manchester United from BVB in 2012, returned to his former stomping ground this summer.

Kagawa made his return memorable by scoring in Dortmund’s 3-1 Bundesliga win over Freiburg at the weekend.

However, the 25-year-old had to be substituted after 64 minutes due to apparent cramp.

As a result, Kagawa underwent a light training session yesterday and is a doubt for the contest at Signal Iduna Park against Arsenal.

And Dortmund boss Klopp, who feels the injury is not serious, insisted that he will decide whether to include Kagawa in his squad for the Gunners clash, after the pre-warm-up session tonight.

“On Saturday it only looked like he’s having a cramp”, the manager explained to his club’s official site.

“We didn’t want to put unnecessary strain on him [so he trained lightly yesterday].

“These kind of niggles are not uncommon a day or two after a game.

“After the pre-warm-up we’ll see who’s ready for it.”
