Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Marco Verratti has signed a new one-year contract extension with the club, committing until 2019.

The 21-year-old joined the French champions from Italian side Pescara in 2012, and has since become one of the brightest young midfield talents in Europe.




And PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who insisted that a host of European clubs are after Verratti’s signature, underlined the importance of the Italian international’s continued presence in his side.

“All of Europe wants Marco Verratti, and each year, he shows his desire to be a long term part of the Paris Saint-Germain project", he explained to his club’s official site.
 


"Marco is one of the most talented players of his generation. His presence in the squad shows the club's desire to prepare for the future and build one of the biggest clubs in Europe."

Verratti, who has won two league titles with PSG, was also delighted to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

"When I think about my career, I only see myself at Paris Saint-Germain”, he said.

“I want to continue winning trophies with this club and continue to improve as a footballer alongside truly world-class players. Paris is magical!"

Verratti has thus far amassed 88 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit, providing 14 assists.

The youngster, who has nine caps and a goal for Italy to his name, has also represented the nation at various youth levels.
