Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes that Mario Balotelli must cherish the opportunity to play in front of the club's faithful.

Balotelli is set to sample a famous Champions League night at Anfield this evening when Liverpool lock horns with Ludogorets Razgrad in their first game in the competition since the 2009/10 season.

Heskey feels that the former AC Milan striker needs to soak up every moment of the experience and appreciate the opportunity he has been given.

Speaking about Balotelli, Heskey told LFC TV: "He's got to cherish the fans and really look forward to that big roar that they're going to give him, and the support that they're going to give him."

Liverpool splashed out £16m to sign Balotelli from AC Milan earlier this summer, drafting in the Italian to increase their attacking options.

He made his debut away to Tottenham Hotspur before the international break and then played in the weekend's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Anfield.

Balotelli also has extra responsibility on his shoulders following a thigh injury to strike partner Daniel Sturridge.
