Leeds United caretaker manager Neil Redfearn is determined his side should stick to passing football and resist the urge to play a direct style.

Redfearn is filling in until Leeds can appoint a new permanent boss, following the sacking of David Hockaday and his assistant Junior Lewis.

The former midfielder has presided over two Leeds games, one win and one draw, and has declared himself happy with the passing football he has seen in both matches.

And with a trip to Bournemouth on the agenda this evening, Redfearn has again urged his side to be brave in passing the ball rather than hitting it long when under pressure, feeling a direct game would not suit the club's players.

"There is no point us lumping the ball up there because we have got footballers that like to pass it", he told LUTV.

"We need to be brave enough to pass it and in the right areas. We need to be patient and we will need to defend well.

"We’ll need to be thorough with tracking back and tackling and the longer we stay in the game the more chance we have of getting a result.

"There have been signs in both games that we are capable of creating and scoring goals.

"We play a type of football that is measured and controlled and is in keeping with sides that are going to be successful.

"The lads are enjoying it, you can see that. They are enjoying having the ball and playing so those are the lines we’ll go down."
