Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli concedes that being handed his debut against Sunderland at the weekend was not an easy task, however he is now relishing the chance to represent the club again.

Stambouli was taken to White Hart Lane by Mauricio Pochettino from Montpellier in the summer transfer window and was brought off the bench on the 70th minute mark for his Tottenham debut against the Black Cats.

The game, which finished 2-2, brought home to the Frenchman the tough nature of the Premier League.

"It was a powerful game with a good rhythm and not the easiest for my first appearance", the Frenchman told the club's site.

"We are all disappointed but Sunderland showed real spirit to come back.

"I think we should have won this game but hopefully next time, we will do it.

"I feel good, I feel positive and I will now work hard again to be ready to play", the midfielder added.
