Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has bemoaned his side's performance in midfield against Borussia Dortmund last night.

The Gunners were second best throughout the Champions League clash in Germany, registering just four shots on goal to Dortmund's 22 and being beaten 2-0.

For Wenger, the most disappointing aspect of the evening was seeing his midfield comprehensively overrun by Jurgen Klopp's side.

However, the Arsenal boss is not in the mood to single out individual players for criticism.

"They were better and stronger than us in midfield, I agree with that", he said via his club's site.

"But it's very difficult on the night to go into any individual assessment of any players because as a team we were not at the requested level", Wenger added.

The Arsenal manager also pulled no punches in admitting that his side were clearly second best on the night against the Bundesliga outfit, dubbing the defeat no surprise.

"Congratulations to Dortmund, they were the better team. We had a disappointing performance and the victory is normal."
