Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has bemoaned poor refereeing for his side's 3-1 defeat at home against Leeds United last night.

The Cherries were favourites to put the Whites to the sword and duly took the lead after just six minutes.

However, Leeds struck back in the second half, scoring three times without reply to claim the three Championship points on offer.

Howe admits his side were not as potent in front of goal as they could have been. However, the Bournemouth boss has also pointed a finger at the referee.

"We need to be more clinical but what I will say, which is unlike me, the referee was really poor for us", Howe told the BBC.

The Cherries boss also vowed not to resort to a more direct style of football in a bid to pick up results after his side slipped to 15th in the Championship table.

"We will not change our principles. For me this is the best way to play football and to get consistent results and to move the club forward.

"We will not revert to long ball football and the principles will always remain while I am in charge."

Next up for Bournemouth is a trip to face Watford on Saturday, while their conquerors Leeds meet Huddersfield Town.
