Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has hailed his side’s display in their 5-1 win over FC Basel in the Champions League last night.

Los Blancos, who lost two consecutive matches in La Liga, took a 14th-minute lead at the Santiago Bernabeu, courtesy of Marek Suchy’s own-goal.

The reigning European champions then enjoyed a great spell where Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez scored goals apiece between the 30th and 37th minute to kill the game in the first-half.

Although the visitors pulled a goal back before the break, Karim Benzema’s 79th-minute strike capped off a memorable night for Real Madrid.

And Ancelotti, who was pleased with his side’s overall performance against the Swiss outfit, however believes Real Madrid are not a finished product yet this season.

“I'm very satisfied with the win and with how we played”, the Italian told UEFA’s official site.

“We played very well in the first half, scored a lot of goals and killed the game off very quickly. We also played well in the second half. We still need to resolve a few issues.

“This game has left us very happy but we know that not all our problems have been resolved. We need to keep working and demonstrate the right attitude in our next game.”

Real Madrid, who are already six points behind leaders Barcelona in La Liga, will next face Deportivo La Coruna in an away league fixture at the weekend.
