Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that Carlos Tevez is an important player for Juventus, following the forward’s brace in his side’s 2-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League last night.

The Argentine, who joined Juventus from Manchester City last summer, scored his first Champions League goal since April 2009 when he gave his side the lead in the 59th minute.

Tevez then put the game to bed with a superb free-kick in the dying moments of the match at the Juventus Stadium.

And Allergi, who acknowledged Tevez’s importance in the team, also praised his side’s display after the break.

However, the former AC Milan boss was displeased with Juventus’ first-half display as he feels the Italian champions need to work on that.

“Tevez is an important player, important to the whole team. Fortunately he plays for Juventus”, Allergi told UEFA’s official site.

“But aside from Tevez, we played well in the second half. We were a bit disorganised in the first half and we need to improve on this.

“Champions League games can be more physical so you've also got to have the patience to wait for your chance without conceding.”

Juventus, who are currently atop the standings in Group A, will next face Atletico Madrid in October.
