Arsene Wenger wants Arsenal to be “patient” with Danny Welbeck after the striker failed to score in his side’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Borussia Dortmund last night.

Welbeck, who joined the Gunners from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, scored in England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in a 2016 European Championship qualifier last week.

But the 23-year-old is yet to score at club level since his strike in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in a Premier League fixture on 8th March.

Welbeck, who hit the post on his Arsenal debut at the weekend against Manchester City, failed to give his side the lead at Signal Iduna Park when he wasted a decent chance.

Ciro Immobile then put the home side 1-0 up late in the first-half, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled their advantage after the break.

And Wenger, who admitted Welbeck missed a few good chances against BVB, is however confident about the summer signing improving his game.

"Danny will improve – we don't have to make a problem of that", the Frenchman was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“He had a very lively first half. He had two or three good chances but couldn't finish them.

“There was one obvious one. We have to be patient with him."
