Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is fighting to keep his job after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in Championship action last night.

The Bluebirds, who Solskjaer could not prevent being relegated from the Premier League last season, now sit 17th in the Championship table and their defeat to Middlesbrough was their second home loss in the space of four days.

The former Manchester United striker attended talks with the Cardiff board in London earlier today, according to ITV, with his job hanging by a thread.

Solskjaer was backed by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan recently, but results have not improved and in total the Norwegian has won just five of 25 league games since he took charge of the Welsh club.

Solskjaer, who has been in charge of Cardiff for just over eight months, led Norwegian club Molde to top flight titles in 2011 and 2012, along with the Norwegian Cup in 2013, after departing his role in charge of Manchester United's reserve team.

However, he has found senior English football a much tougher ask and it is not clear whether he will be in charge for Cardiff's trip to Derby this weekend.

Cardiff have so far collected just eight points from seven games.
