Celtic starlet Callum McGregor does not want to be compared with other players and is keen to carve out his own style of play at Paradise.

McGregor spent last term on loan at English club Notts County and was welcomed back to Celtic this summer with open arms.

The midfielder has impressed new boss Ronny Deila and as a result has been handed first team opportunities by the Norwegian.

And McGregor is concentrating on simply playing in his own way, rather than looking to emulate other established players.

"I don’t think I base my game on anyone else. Maybe when I was younger I did with guys in the Celtic first-team like Aiden McGeady, but as you get older you realise you have to create your own style of play and do what you do best so I think that’s what I’ve learned in the last 18 months", he told his club's site.

"You have to be your own player and don’t copy anyone else. Just go and do what you’re good at and make your own stamp on it.

"The senior players have helped with that. The experienced ones like Charlie [Mulgrew] and Scott [Brown] have been excellent and Kris [Commons] as well have all taken me under their wing and showed me how to go and play for Celtic and how to be a leader as well by taking the challenges on", McGregor added.

The 21-year-old turned out 36 times in League One for Notts County last season, scoring 12 goals in the process.

McGregor penned a new five-year contract with Celtic earlier this summer.
