Celtic assistant manager John Collins feels the Bhoys will be facing a wounded opponent on Thursday night when they lock horns with Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League.

The Austrian giants, who host Celtic in their opening Europa League group stage fixture, have lost their last three games in all competitions, going down against Malmo, Sturm Graz and Wolfsberger.

Collins, who rates Salzburg highly, feels this will make the Austrians even more dangerous opposition for the Scottish champions.

"I think they will be desperate to get back on track", Collins told his club's site.

"They have lost three consecutive matches, which is unusual for them, but they have a new manager as well and they are adapting to him."

But Collins has dismissed the notion that Celtic, who dropped out of the Champions League and into the Europa League, just as Salzburg did, have a point to prove themselves.

"I don’t think we have a point to prove, as such, but we want to improve.

"We know we can play better than we have and we have new players that are integrating into the group, getting fitter and getting more matches under their belt."
