Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart believes the Citizens are more than a match for Bayern Munich, despite going down to a 1-0 defeat in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena tonight.

Manuel Pellegrini's men slogged it out with the German champions for large periods and looked all but set to earn at least a draw from their efforts.

But Jerome Boateng popped up to hit a superb shot for Bayern Munich in the 90th minute, grabbing victory for the hosts.

Hart was not downbeat post-match though and expressed his view that Manchester City had more than competed with Pep Guardiola's men.

"We fought hard all night against a good team you know what you get when you come", the goalkeeper told Sky Sports.

"A nasty deflection at the end has done us and Jerome Boateng comes back to haunt us. It would have been well deserved draw, we made them work hard for everything. I tend to be busy against German teams.

"We can match Bayern Munich, we have some very tough games now and we have to play well against CSKA and Roma now. We're confident we can win the rest of our games."

The other result in Group E saw Roma thrash CSKA Moscow 5-1 in Italy.
