West Ham full-back Guy Demel has lauded the club’s culture that allows the players to thrive and become better at Upton Park.

The Ivorian joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2011 and has made 78 appearances for the club.

The 33-year-old is one of the senior figures in the West Ham dressing room and plays a crucial role in helping the new players to settle down.

The Ivorian said that it is easier for the senior figures in the dressing room to settle down the new players as all of them are quality performers who are hungry for success.

He added that the atmosphere inside the club allows the players to work hard and push themselves to become better players, which eventually helps the Hammers to be successful.

“Like Diafra [Sakho] said, it's the way this team is, helping them settle in”, Demel told the club’s official site.

“They are all good players, they have good ability and it's easy when that's the case. The most important thing is they have a big will to achieve things.

“They work hard – they are in the gym after training doing extra – it's great for the team and it pushes every player to do more things.”

“In the end, West Ham gets the benefit from it."
