In-demand Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin admits that there was contact between the French giants and Inter over the summer.

Thauvin was a wanted man over the course of the summer transfer window, with both Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur seeing approaches for his services rebuffed, while Arsenal and Chelsea have also long monitored his progress.

Now the attacking midfielder, who Arsene Wenger dubbed French football's great hope, has revealed Inter also came knocking.

However, Thauvin can shed no further light on what happened when the Nerazzurri made contact with Marseille.

"The president had some contact with Inter Milan", Thauvin told his club's site.

"What happened after that I really don't know.

"It was very clear to the president and me that it was out of the question for me to leave now.

"Quite honestly, I didn't look at the offer. It was flattering, it was from a great club, but I'm at OM."

The 21-year-old, who is locked down on a contract until 2018 at the Stade Velodrome, has so far made five appearances for Marseille in Ligue 1 this term, scoring two goals and providing two assists for his team-mates.
