Brendan Rodgers has insisted that there is no magic formula to win in football and said that Liverpool need to keep working hard to achieve positive results.

The Reds suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of an in-form Aston Villa side at Anfield last weekend, despite starting the Premier League clash as firm favourites.

Liverpool just about managed to beat Bulgarian underdogs Ludogorets Razgrad 2-1 in their Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

Rodgers insists that there is no tried and tested formula to win games in football and advised his squad to train harder to produce the goods on the pitch when it matters.

"We'll always find different ways to win games”, the Liverpool manager said in a press conference earlier today.

“There's no magic formula, it's constant work on the training field.

"I remember this time last year I was asked if we were going to score enough goals and we ended up with 101 goals.”

Rodgers defended his side’s recent form by saying that a number of players joined the club this summer and it will take time for the squad to settle down before they produce the results on the pitch.

“We've had to bring in a lot of new players because of the demands of the Champions League so that naturally takes time and we've got players adapting to a new country."

Rodgers and his Liverpool side will travel to London to take on West Ham at Upton Park this Saturday.
