Manchester United winger Angel di Maria has spoken warmly of the friends he left behind at Real Madrid this summer.

Di Maria switched to Manchester United in the recently closed transfer window for a British record fee of £59.7m, being handed the iconic number 7 shirt by the Red Devils.

The Argentine was a popular figure at the Bernabeu with his team-mates and insists he made many friends at Real Madrid, who he always gave his all for on the pitch.

"I moved away from Real Madrid in a good moment", Di Maria told El Mundo Deportivo.

"I always gave everything to make sure that every person around me was happy.
