Former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is making solid progress in his return from injury, but will not rush back to face FC Copenhagen if he is not ready.

Agger, who joined Brondby from Liverpool in the summer, was expected to make his second debut for his boyhood club against Randers FC last weekend, however he missed the cut due to injury.

Brondby next lock horns with rivals FC Copenhagen in a game dubbed the 'new firm' in Denmark, but for Agger it holds no special significance and he simply wants to be playing football as soon as possible.

"It is a thigh injury that is improving. I think that you could see that in training today. I was on an equal footing with everyone else. It was not 100 per cent, but it's getting there", the defender told DR Sport.

"I do not really care what the match is", he continued, looking at the FC Copenhagen clash.

"For me it's important to get onto the pitch and play some football.

"So it doesn't matter who it is against."

Agger insisted on joining Brondby earlier this summer when Liverpool declared him surplus to requirements at Anfield.

The defender signed for Liverpool from Brondby in 2006 and made a total of 232 appearances for the Reds, becoming a firm fan favourite.
