Pep Guardiola is of the opinion that Manchester City are one of the teams which can win the Champions League this season, despite the English champions’ 1-0 loss at the hands of Bayern Munich last night.

Jerome Boateng’s last-gasp deflected goal against his former employers was the difference between the sides at the Allianz Arena.

And Guardiola, who admitted the Citizens were the better team early on in the game, felt his side controlled proceedings thereafter.

However, the former Barcelona boss identified Manuel Pellegrini’s side as one of the possible candidates for this season’s Champions League title.

“City were the better team in the first 20 minutes, but we dominated afterwards”, the Bayern Munich manager explained to UEFA’s official site.

“We created a lot of chances, which isn't easy against a team like them. We played with a big heart and showed how much we wanted this victory.

“The most difficult thing in football is to score a goal. I know Manuel Pellegrini very well and his defensive movement of the back line is almost perfect.

“My humble opinion is that there are six or seven teams that can win the Champions League. City are one of them.”

Despite their win, Bayern Munich are currently second in Group E on goal difference, after Italian giants Roma thrashed CSKA Moscow 5-1 in the group’s other encounter at the Stadio Olimpico.
