Nigel de Jong has confirmed that talks over renewing his contract with AC Milan will take place next week.

De Jong has only one year left on his deal with the club and Milan are keen to extend his contract to see off interest from other clubs.

The Dutchman was one of many midfielders who was linked with a move to Manchester United in the transfer window, but Milan managed to hold on to their midfield enforcer.

The 29-year-old, who is known to be highly rated by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, claims that he is happy to remain with the Rossoneri and confirmed that talks over a new contract will take place next week.

“I am happy here as Milan are a great team”, De Jong told Tuttosport.
