Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has conceded his side's Europa League opener against Partizan Belgrade this evening was "tough".

The match in Serbia ended in a 0-0 draw, with neither side able to make the breakthrough over the course of the 90 minute contest.

Spurs enjoyed the lion's share of possession, but struggled to put Partizan on the rack.

And Pochettino believes the outcome of the game was fair given the balance of chances, declaring his satisfaction over at least leaving Serbia unscathed.

"We knew it would be difficult. The result was fair. We competed and got a clean sheet", the Argentine said via his club's feed.

"In the end it was a tough game and difficult to do well. We tried. One point was a fair result."

And Pochettino was keen to focus on the bright spots from his side's work this evening.

"We need to look forward and look at the positive", he added.
