Former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg has announced that he is joining Indian Super League outfit Mumbai City FC.

The 37-year-old attacking midfielder will travel to India later this month to start training ahead of the inaugural season of the tournament.

The Swede’s last club was J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse and he made eleven appearances for the club, before leaving in February 2012.

“Just signed with Mumbai City FC. Gonna be some exciting months ahead! Looking forward to it”, Ljungberg wrote on his official Twitter account.

Former Sunderland manager Peter Reid was appointed as the head coach of Mumbai FC earlier this month, while Nicolas Anelka has also joined the club.
