Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has admitted that his side had to toil hard to bag the full three points against APOEL in the Champions League last night.

Barcelona won the game 1-0, courtesy of Gerard Pique’s 28th-minute header at the Camp Nou.

And Enrique, who felt his side deserved to come out victorious, however acknowledged that Barcelona found it hard going forward against the Cyprus outfit.

“We had problems because they gave us so little space”, the manager explained to UEFA’s official site.

“As a positive, we scored from a set piece. I also love the fact we have not conceded. It was a tough match and we made few mistakes so we deserved the three points.”

Barcelona, who are currently atop the standings in Group F, are also two points clear at the top of La Liga.

However Enrique, who called on Barcelona not to get over-confident, also wants his side to improve their game.

“The way forward is not to get over-confident. We were not too fluid and we know we have to improve and we will analyse our performance.”

Barcelona’s next opponents in the Champions League are Paris Saint-Germain, who earned a 1-1 draw with Ajax last night.

The Catalans will face the French champions in an away fixture at the Parc des Princes on 30th September.
