Bastia striker Brandao has been suspended for six months for head-butting Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta.

The Brazilian was handed a provisional four-week ban, but after the full case was assessed he was handed a six-month ban from football.

"Brandao will be available to play again on Feb. 22, 2015", the league's disciplinary committee said in a statement.

It is the second time in two seasons that Brandao has faced suspension for foul play. He received a three-match ban for elbowing another PSG player, Yohan Cabaye, last season.

The latest incident took place after Bastia suffered a 2-0 loss against PSG last month at the Parc des Princes.

Security footage revealed that Brandao head-butted Motta outside the players’ changing room and then ran away with the Italian international in pursuit.

Separate footage on Canal + television showed that Motta suffered a broken nose due to the altercation.

Bastia said at the time of the 34-year-old's head-butt it "condemns without ambiguity" the player's actions but also "deplores the behaviour of certain players who never stop insulting and provoking their opponents".
