Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he has a more balanced squad to work with this season than last term.

The Blues, who finished third in the Premier League in 2013/14, have made a sensational start to the campaign by winning all their first four league fixtures, with new signing Diego Costa scoring seven goals.

Mourinho feels he has a better squad than last season in terms of balance and depth and has more options to work with.

"I don't want to compare squads, but ours is better than it was last season [because] we have more solutions. We have a good balance”, the Portuguese said in a press conference today.

Mourinho’s claims on the strength of his squad will be severely tested when the Blues travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City this Sunday.

However, the Portuguese said that Chelsea are good enough to match the champions and go toe to toe this weekend and insists he is looking forward to a perfect performance from his side.

“It's always a good time to play against big teams because it makes my job easy. We respect City totally because they deserve it, but we believe in ourselves.

“The perfect situation is to score a lot of goals and not concede, and we have to chase that perfection."

After two wins, a draw and a loss, Manchester City are fifth in the Premier League table on seven points.
