Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo has revealed he is a more confident player this season and that he is not afraid to fight for his place in the club’s starting line-up.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Auxerre last summer, endured an injury-ravaged first season at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the youngster has already made three appearances for Arsenal this season as compared to his 14 outings in the whole of the 2013/14 campaign.

And Sanogo, who thanked his experienced team-mates for guiding and advising him, feels he has finally settled in at Arsenal.

But the Frenchman took special mention of manager Arsene Wenger, whose trust has boosted his confidence.

"Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta, experienced players give me advice as I am one the youngest players," Sanogo told Arsenal Player.

"My first year had some ups and downs. I was injured during the first six months, then I made some good progress.

“It took some time to settle in as I had just arrived at a new club so it was a bit difficult, but at the end we won the cup so I was happy about the season.

"It gives me a lot of confidence that the boss trusts me because he believes in me and has hope. That is why I work so hard every day and keep the faith.

"It is true that when you get to a certain age you have to play all the time. I am 21 and competition in big clubs is unavoidable, so you have to work hard to try to be the best you can."

Sanogo, whose contract with Arsenal runs until the summer of 2017, is yet to find the back of the net for the Premier League outfit.
