Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini has urged the club fans to keep supporting the team during testing times.

There is a growing well of discontent among the Newcastle supporters against manager Alan Pardew after the club made a poor start to the season.

The Magpies are bottom of the league on two points and will host Steve Bruce’s Hull City tomorrow at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle fans are planning to stage mass protests against Pardew and more than 15,000 leaflets, urging the dismissal of the manager, will be distributed outside the stadium tomorrow.

However Coloccini, club captain and a hugely popular figure among the fans, urged the supporters to keep supporting the club inside the stadium.

He further added that he understands that they are not happy with the team’s performance, but said that Newcastle need the Geordies to stand by them during testing times.

"You want to win every game, just like us, and we all want the best for this football club", he said in his programme notes for tomorrow's match.

"We are football fans too, so we understand that things can get frustrating. But please, support the team for 90 minutes inside the stadium. We need your support."

Newcastle are continuing from where they left off at the end of last season and have won only five league games out of 23 in the calendar year.
