Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is delighted with his first goal for the club, scored in a 3-0 win at Aston Villa today, and believes as he trains more with his new team-mates his understanding with them will improve.

Welbeck joined Arsenal from Manchester United for a fee of £16m on transfer deadline day, arriving to give boss Arsene Wenger extra attacking options following an injury to France striker Olivier Giroud.

The Arsenal new boy scored his side's second goal in their 3-0 win at Villa Park and is delighted to have got off the mark.

"It was a good team performance and we started really well. We moved the ball and got in behind them at times – that was the difference today", he said via his club's site, on the win.

And Welbeck explained he has not been able to train with his new team-mates as often as he would have liked, something he feels will mean he can perform better when he builds up an understanding.

"I've not had as many training sessions as I would have liked to but I'm starting to know the other players a lot better.

"In time I'm sure the understanding will be positive", he added.
