Louis van Gaal admits his defensive options have been reduced for Manchester United's clash against West Ham next weekend due to an injury to Jonny Evans.

Evans was forced off in the 30th minute of Manchester United's 5-3 defeat away at Leicester City earlier today and, having hurt his ankle, could well miss the West Ham clash. Tyler Blackett will definitely be absent, having been sent off against the Foxes.

Van Gaal expects to be able to call on summer signings Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo against the Hammers, but admits he is thin on the ground.

"I think that Shaw shall be fit enough to play", Van Gaal explained to MUTV, looking towards the visit from Sam Allardyce's side.

"Rojo can play and [Chris] Smalling can play, so we can manage. But it's a thin choice."

Manchester United snapped up Shaw from Southampton earlier this summer in a deal which Van Gaal has admitted was done before his arrival at Old Trafford.

Rojo meanwhile signed from Sporting Lisbon on a £16m deal after impressing with Argentina at the World Cup.
