Danny Welbeck needs to develop his killer instinct in front of goal before he can aspire to match the feats of Thierry Henry at Arsenal, former Manchester United first team coach Phil Neville believes.

Welbeck has been likened to Henry, with hopes having been expressed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger can transform the England striker in a way similar to that in which he turned Henry into a prolific scorer.

But Neville, who worked with Welbeck at Manchester United last term, feels there is still some way to go before the England man can regularly notch 20 to 25 goals per season for the Gunners.

"I think that's the one thing missing from Danny's game", Neville told BBC Radio 5 live during a discussion about Welbeck matching Henry's killer instinct.

"Somebody said to me on Saturday [when Arsenal played Aston Villa] 'Danny Welbeck will score 20-25 goals'. I don't see that in Danny Welbeck at this moment in time. He's not a killer in front of goal.

"He's a 10-15 goal a season man at this moment in time. But if he keeps working at his game, he will get opportunities, and the partnership and the combination between him and [Mesut] Ozil on Saturday, I thought was the highlight of the game for Arsene Wenger.

"He needs to learn to be a killer in front of goal", Neville added.

Welbeck scored his first goal for Arsenal since his £16m move from Manchester United when the Gunners downed Aston Villa 3-0 at the weekend.
