Mesut Ozil has heaped praise on Arsenal’s new signing Danny Welbeck and said that the striker adds an extra dimension to their attack.

Ozil and Welbeck combined well in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday with both of them assisting each other’s goal.

Welbeck joined Arsenal from his boyhood club Manchester United for a transfer fee of £16m on transfer deadline day.

And Ozil believes that the England striker is value for money and has added an extra dimension to Arsenal’s attack this season.

"When you analyse [Welbeck’s] game, you notice that he makes a lot of runs and knows where he needs to be”, the German told Arsenal's site.

“We're pleased to have a striker like him here. He makes the game simpler for us through his runs and speed.”

The German World Cup winner feels Welbeck attracted some unwarranted criticism for his goalscoring record in the past, but is happy that the England striker has proved his value to the team with his performance against Villa on Saturday.

"[On Saturday] he proved again that he is very dangerous in front of goal and personally, I'm happy for him because in recent games, he missed a few chances.

“Things worked really well for him on Saturday and that's why I'm pleased for him."

Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League table on nine points.
