Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy admits he was delighted to see Manchester United's defence fall apart against Leicester City this weekend.

Louis van Gaal's men had been leading 3-1 until the 62nd minute, after which they proceeded to crumble and conceded four goals to lose 5-3 at the King Power Stadium.

Question marks were raised about the Red Devils' defence, which Leicester breached with ease. And Murphy admits he enjoyed watching Van Gaal's men throw away their advantage.

"I wasn't furious [with their defending]. I quite enjoyed it", Murphy joked on Match of the Day.

The former Liverpool midfielder then pinpointed Manchester United's defensive issues as largely being down to a lack of nous in the backline.

"I was surprised at the lack of organisation, discipline, leadership. And when they were winning the game you expect them to be a bit more secure and clever, and they weren't.

"They just ended up all over the place, it really was shambolic at times. To concede five away at Leicester is disappointing."

Manchester United now face a week long wait until they can look to bounce back from the defeat, with Sam Allardyce's West Ham due at Old Trafford on Saturday.
